ECGF (Endothelial Cell Growth Factor) is a growth factor that promotes the growth and differentiation of endothelial cells, the main components of blood vessels. It belongs to the family of angiogenesis-stimulating factors and plays an important role in the formation of new blood vessels, especially during wound healing, embryonic development and tumor angiogenesis.

ECGF is an acidic protein factor that was originally isolated from tissue extracts. Its action is mediated by binding to specific receptors on endothelial cells, activating signaling pathways that promote cell migration, proliferation and survival. A particular function of ECGF is its involvement in the formation of stable and functional capillaries.

Of clinical interest is that dysregulation of ECGF may be associated with diseases such as cancer, chronic inflammation and ischemic disorders. ECGF is being investigated as a potential therapeutic target in regenerative medicine and in the treatment of vascular diseases. Its precise regulation and interactions with other growth factors such as VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) are the subject of intensive research.
