Description / LDL R

The LDL receptor (low density lipoprotein receptor) is a protein that is anchored in cell membranes of all animals. It is a so-called membrane receptor that mediates specific binding to apoprotein B-100, the protein portion of LDL dietary lipids, with its binding sites located outside the cell. After the LDL is bound in this way, it is transported to the interior of the cell.
